Bournemouth (Holy Trinity)

Holy Trinity Church, Bournemouth

Trinity, 161 Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth

Church built 1868-9 (tower 1878) in Italian Romanesque style, designed by Cory & Ferguson of Carlisle, deconsecrated in 1973, burnt down in 1979. Described in the listed buildings schedule as "Italian Romanesque of dignified and impressive character: red brick, vitrified blue brick bands emphasising plinths and connecting alternating red and blue voussoirs of windows, roofs of patterned tiles. South-west campanile, almost detached." Now the site of a hideous office building, unimaginatively called "Trinity."
